Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim of Malaysia commenced his two-day Official Visit to the Philippines as he landed at the Villamor Air Base in Pasay City on March 1, 2023.

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian, together with Philippine Ambassador to Malaysia Charles Jose and Pasay City Representative Antonio Calixto, welcomed the Prime Minister upon his arrival.

Thereafter, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. accorded the Malaysian Prime Minister with arrival honors in an official welcome ceremony at the Kalayaan Grounds in Malacañang.

As founding members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA), the two leaders looked to support each other in their peace-building initiatives in the Region, particularly the importance of achieving resolution in Myanmar.

The productive visit to Malacañan Palace marked the first day of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s two-day Official Visit.
