President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday broke his silence on the proposed Maharlika Wealth Fund, saying he believes it would be advantageous for the Philippines amid apprehension from several groups.

“For sure. I wouldn’t have brought it up otherwise,” Marcos said in an interview with reporters aboard a plane bound for Brussels, Belgium when asked if he thinks the Maharlika Wealth Fund will be beneficial for the country. Marcos is currently in Brussels to attend the ASEAN-EU Commemorative summit with the PHL as country coordinator for the ASEAN.
