Former PhilHealth chief Edwin Mercado is the new Health Secretary. Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said Mercado will replace Brix Pujalte, who resigned due to health reasons. Senator JV Ejercito welcomed the appointment of Mercado. He says Mercado will bring his expertise as a physician and healthcare executive to the Department of Health.
