I paid around ₱6,000, roughly US$100 — for a Cebu Pacific flight that spent just 44 minutes in the air. And this wasn’t even part of my original travel plan.
I had just arrived in Siargao, Philippines from Cebu aboard Sunlight Air. But after a flight cancellation changed my itinerary and resulted in a same-day return, I needed another way back to Cebu.
With the trip booked less than a month before departure, my Cebu Pacific ticket ended up costing around ₱6,000.
For a 44-minute flight. 😅
Today, come with me as I fly Cebu Pacific flight DG6858 from Siargao to Cebu, operated by CebGo aboard an ATR 72-600.
And despite being such a short flight, there’s actually plenty happening on this journey.
Siargao Airport is undergoing renovation, the terminal was hot and packed with travelers, and the ramp was incredibly busy with flights from Cebu Pacific, PAL Express and Sunlight Air.
Then our aircraft, RP-C7285, arrived from Davao — and what happened next was one of the fastest aircraft turnarounds I’ve experienced.
Passengers were still getting off while we were already lined up outside waiting to board!
Once onboard, you’ll also see what Cebu Pacific’s ATR cabin is really like: a very thin non-reclining seat, around 28 inches of pitch, tight legroom and one of the simplest tray-table designs you’ll find on an airliner.
And then came the weather.
The seatbelt sign remained illuminated for most of our journey because of turbulence, preventing the crew from conducting the usual inflight service. Thankfully, they still made sure I received the snack I had purchased before we landed.
So is Cebu Pacific actually a good option between Siargao and Cebu?
At the right price, absolutely.
But when the fare reaches ₱6,000, Cebu Pacific isn’t necessarily the “budget” option anymore — especially when PAL Express and Sunlight Air can sometimes compete on price.
If you’re planning a trip to Siargao for surfing, backpacking, island hopping or exploring the Philippines, this video will also give you a look at the current Siargao Airport experience and what flying the ATR between the Philippine islands is really like.
