The Supreme Court of the Philippines.Over P800 million out of P20 billion worth of ill-gotten assets from anomalous flood control projects were returned to the government, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said on Monday during his fifth State of the Nation Address.Marcos made the remarks in a much-anticipated update on the multibillion corruption scandal which also took centerstage in his last Sona.All proceeds recovered from the corrupt will be immediately returned to the public treasury.He also noted that the “huge part of funds salvaged from the corruption in flood control projects” were allotted for education and health.A political scientist, who previously said that the case filings of the Ombudsman should not be considered as a Sona achievement, said the president “may actually claim some credit” on the recovered funds.
