SAIPAN - CNMI Lt. Governor Dennis C. Mendiola said he will contest criminal charges filed in Superior Court, maintaining his innocence and pledging to continue carrying out his responsibilities as the Commonwealth’s second-highest elected official.
“The allegations against me are without merit,†Mendiola stated. “I will contest these charges and I am confident that the facts will demonstrate my innocence.â€
The Office of the Lieutenant Governor said the proceedings will not affect Mendiola’s work. He affirmed that his constitutional mandate remains unchanged and that he will continue serving the people of the CNMI with “dedication and integrity.â€
Officials emphasized that the matter is now before the court and will be resolved through the judicial process.
