The Ombudsman has filed a plunder case against former Speaker Martin Romualdez. This is in connection with his alleged links to anomalous flood control projects. Romualdez has repeatedly denied the allegations. His lawyer is appealing to the Ombudsman to give Romualdez a chance to respond to any new allegations against him in the flood control investigation. There were reports that former Public Works Chief Manuel Bonoan could be pressured to link Romualdez to the alleged corruption. Bonoan has been dropped as one of the co-accused in the case.
