Our FIRST time at Roxas Night Market in Davao - and we were NOT prepared for this! 😳🇵🇭
We came to Roxas Night Market expecting an evening of delicious Filipino street food, family fun, and a great atmosphere. Instead, we were completely shocked by the rule at the entrance.
We were not allowed to enter because I had a small women’s backpack with everything we needed for the evening - my phone for filming, my wallet (pocket!!), water and diapers for baby Alina, and other essentials 😳
What made it even more surprising was seeing people entering with huge shoulder bags, while our tiny backpack was not allowed. We tried to explain that we simply wanted to buy food and enjoy the night market, but the rule was the rule.
Eventually, we had to leave the backpack behind and carry everything in our hands. It was extremely inconvenient, and honestly, we were still trying to understand WHY this rule exists!
And then came the best part… ❤️ THE FOOD!
There was an incredible variety of freshly prepared food, and the atmosphere was exactly what we hoped for. The kids found their favorite Siomai, while I and my ex-husband Sergei, the father of my two sons, tried lechon pork belly, seaweed salad, and Pastil - rice with chicken.
And WOW… 🤤🔥 Everything was unbelievably delicious!
So our first Roxas Night Market experience gave us very mixed feelings: shocked and frustrated at the entrance, but absolutely delighted by the food, atmosphere, and family experience afterward.
One thing still doesn’t make sense to us: we were even told that if we cut the backpack straps and turned the backpack into a shoulder bag, we would be allowed inside! 😳
👉 If you’re from the Philippines, especially Davao, PLEASE tell us in the comments:
Why are small backpacks not allowed at Roxas Night Market, while large shoulder bags are? What is the reason behind this rule?
We would really love to understand! 🇵🇭❤️
