Live from outside the Quezon City Regional Trial Court following an arrest warrant issued against Philippine Vice President Sara Duterte over alleged threats against the president. Following the issuance of an arrest warrant against her in connection with grave threats cases, Vice President Sara Duterte on Saturday, September 5, expressed fears for her life and the safety of her children. In a statement, Duterte said she has documented threats and harassment against her since 2023. “I have documented threats and harassment since 2023. I fear for my children. I do not feel they are safe if I am with them,” Duterte said. She also said police went to the place where her children were despite her leaving the area to go to court. “Umalis na nga ako kung nasaan mga anak ko para pumunta sa korte pero pumunta pa rin ang pulis (I already left where my children were to go to court, but the police still came),” Duterte said. “I do not feel safe. Pakiramdam ko papatayin nila ako (I feel like they are going to kill me),” Duterte added. Duterte, lawyers arrive at QC Hall of Justice Duterte and her lawyers, Michael Poa and Lawrence Lim, arrived at the Quezon City Hall of Justice on September 5, following the issuance of the arrest warrant. Arrest warrant issued against Duterte The Quezon City Regional Trial Court issued an arrest warrant against Duterte on September 4 in connection with the grave threats cases filed against her. The warrant was issued following court proceedings involving the cases. Duterte’s legal team had earlier challenged the cases through a motion to quash, questioning the court’s jurisdiction and citing the procedural immunity of impeachable officers while in office.
