Senate panel OKs 2026 BSKE postponement, fixing officials' term

A Senate panel has approved a bill postponing the November 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections. It also approved another bill fixing the officials' term from four to five years. Senator Chiz Escudero presided over the hearing on the bills by the Senate Committee on Local Government. He directed the committee secretariat to draft a report reflecting the amendments and resource persons’ inputs. The report is expected to be completed this week for deliberation in the plenary.
