“We don’t all walk the same path, but we can matter in bettering this country and even this world.”
Grandemir B. Baysa-Pee, summa cum laude graduate of BS Computer Science, addressed the Class of 2025 at the University of the Philippines Baguio’s 23rd Commencement Exercises on July 22. Reflecting on the quiet perseverance that brought him to that day, Baysa-Pee spoke about the power of consistently showing up and doing one’s best.
“The glory of today will fade, replaced by what may seem like endless drudgery,” he said, reminding his peers that dignity and meaning are found in honest, steady work. He called on his fellow graduates to carry forward UP’s ideals of honor, excellence, and service, not only in grand milestones, but in the quiet resolve to “do good work well, day after day.”
UP Baguio conferred degrees on 526 graduates, including two with summa cum laude honors. The ceremony also marked a milestone with the first conferment of the Master of Arts in History (Ethnohistory and Local History) and Doctor of Philosophy in Indigenous Studies degrees.
